Olá, tenho um site no 2.5 em que quando clico em um link externo dentro do site ao invés de abrir direto o link externo, ele coloca o meu domínio antes, ex: <!-- w --> www.fulano.com.br/joomla/www.ciclano.com.br <!-- w -->

Alguem sabe onde configurar isso no painel de controle??

se for o que entendi, o link apontava para o meu domínio original, o que resultava em um 404

Você usa algum SEF? Se sim, purga ele e limpe o cache.
